Music Retreat
Started in the Spring of 2025, our bi-annual Music Retreat is an event where K-5th and 9th-12th grade students from the community can come to Truman's campus and spend the afternoon eating snacks and participating in fun musical activities before ending the day with a performance!
Participants are now grouped K-5thh, and 9th-12th. The K-5th group participates in musical games and activities, and they work together to learn or create music for the afternoon performance. The 9th-12th graders have the opportunity to receive individual coaching from Epsilon Pi members on their instrument and participate in a masterclass with repertoire of their choice. Students can choose to perform the repertoire that they have worked on at the closing performance. This is a great opportunity to work on solo or audition materials!

Spring 2026
We had an absolute blast at our Spring 2026 Music Retreat! This semester, thirteen high school students brought repertoire and received feedback on ensemble and Solo and Ensemble repertoire, with eight who chose to perform at the closing concert. The K-1st grade group worked together to plan and perform "Bluey Remix," arranged by Epsilon Pi member Annie Stanford, featuring singing and dancing! The 2nd-4th grade group performed "Shake My Sillies Out" by Raffi, accompanied by members of Epsilon Pi. The closing piece to the concert featured all K-4th grade students singing "Bananas" by the Fresh Beat Band. It was a wonderful day for all students, who had so much fun working hard and learning all about music!
