ALS Fundraisers

ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the spinal cord and brain. Though there has been progress in studying the disease, there is still no cure. As something that has deeply affected our current and past members, Epsilon Pi holds a large fundraiser each spring to raise awareness and money for ALS research, as well as honoring and remembering those who currently have or have had ALS.

Our Spring Fling event invites Truman music students and ensembles to perform on the quad, where booths and games are set up for food and fun. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it brings the community together to educate and raise awareness for ALS. All funds raised go to the ALS Foundation St. Louis chapter, and our donation is matched by Dr. Randy Smith.

Spring 2025

During 2025, we collaborated with Truman Media Network to host our Spring Fling event on April 11th. We welcomed numerous ensembles, including both jazz bands as well as a capella groups and student bands. Some of the student-favorite events included the Faculty Band and their performance of "I Love Rock and Roll" as well as Pie-a-Professor, in which we held a fundraising competition in which people could donate money for the highest-earning professor to get pied in the face. Orchestra Conductor Dr. Grobey was the highest earner, earning him a pie to the face. This is such an important event and we are excited to bring it back next spring!
